Checkmate!

Authentic New York City concrete chess tables, best known for their place in urban parks, are now available for residential design and retail. Concrete Classics, in Linden, New Jersey, has designed a freestanding version of the classic park chess table that can be placed on any level surface, including patios, gardens, and pool decks.

The game-board tops, made with green and white tiles separated by an inlaid brass border, are sanded and polished into a durable terrazzo finish. Freestanding and traditional, fixed-base versions, as well as matching concrete stools and a backgammon tabletop, are available. The stools and tables can be found at garden centers around the New York metropolitan area and on the company’s web site.
